Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kinshasa
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kinshasa (Latin: Kinshasan(us)) is the Metropolitan See for the Ecclesiastical province of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
History
- 22 November 1886: Established as Mission “sui iuris” of Belgian Congo from the Apostolic Prefecture of Lower Congo in Cubango, Angola and the Apostolic Vicariate of Two Guineas in Gabon
- 11 May 1888: Promoted as Apostolic Vicariate of Léopoldville
- 10 November 1959: Promoted as Metropolitan Archdiocese of Léopoldville
- 30 May 1966: Renamed as Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kinshasa
