Roger "Coach" Phillips is a fictional character on Happy Days[1] played by Ted McGinley. Roger filled in for Richie Cunningham (played by Ron Howard, who left the series to pusure a directing career), who joined the army. Roger was introduced in the 1980 episode "Hello Roger" but his character was not favored by fans and was ofted called a "dork" or a "nerd" by fans. Roger was a recurring character from seasons 8-9 and joined the main cast in season 10 and stayed until the series finale in season 11.[2]
