Rodrigo Ābols (born January 5, 1996) is a Latvian ice hockey player currently playing for the HK Rīga of the MHL. He's son of former Latvian ice hockey player and current Dinamo Riga of Kontinental Hockey League head coach Artis Ābols.

Playing career

Ābols began playing in minor and junior hockey in Sweden when his father played there. He joined Dinamo Riga minors HK Riga of MHL in 2013-14 season. He then played his first game for Dinamo Riga of KHL, coached by his father, on 27 December 2014 in a OT loss against rivals Dinamo Minsk.[1] In January 2015 Ābols registered his first KHL point with assist on a win against Torpedo and scored his first goal against on win against Severstal Cherepovets.[2]

International

Ābols participated at the 2013 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships as a member of the Latvian national junior team.
