Rockland Centre

Rockland Centre is a mall located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is owned by Cominar.[1]

Historical

Rockland Centre first opened in 1959, having only one floor except for a Morgan's store, and was built on a golf course.

In early 1980s a second floor, a multi-level parking lot and an Eaton's store were added; Rockland Centre became an enclosed mall. The main floor used to house a Holt Renfrew store that has since closed as well as a Steinberg's supermarket which eventually became a Metro, but closed also (now an SAQ).

In the early 1990s, the mall was the filming location for the episode "Tale of the Pinball Wizard" from the children's horror/fantasy television show Are You Afraid of the Dark?.

In 2006, the food court was moved to the top floor. The mall had extensive renovations and now is home to two H&M stores, VERO MODA, JACK & JONES, StyleXChange, Diesel, Rudsak, Harry Rosen, Buffalo, Le Château, Michael Kors, Stuart Weitzman Benetton, Zara, Mexx and Guess.

In 2007, the Sports Experts store was moved from its location on the second floor to the now vacant food court area and is now one of the biggest stores of its type in Canada. In 2008, the older logos on the mall's exterior were removed in favor of the current logo.

In 2014, Cominar purchased the mall from Ivanhoe Cambridge.[1]
