Rochester Adams High School (also known as Adams High School, Adams, or AHS) is a high school located in Rochester Hills, Michigan, and is part of the Rochester Community Schools district. The majority of students reside within Rochester Hills and Oakland Township, with some coming from Orion Township, Rochester, and Auburn Hills. It shares the city's vicinity with Rochester High School and Stoney Creek High School. Adams consistently ranks as a top high school in Michigan and in 2014 U.S. News & World Report awarded Rochester Adams a Best High Schools gold medal.[2] The school garnered nation-wide attention in September 2014, when school officials refused to allow Lt. Colonel Sherwood Baker, a U.S. Army officer, onto the school grounds to visit his daughter because he was wearing his military uniform.[3] Rochester Schools Superintendent Robert Shaner quickly apologized for the incident, citing a private security firm's misunderstanding of district policy.[4]
