Robert Hunter Wade (born 1944) was born in Australia to New Zealand parents.

He is currently Professor of Political Economy and Development at the Development Studies Institute (DESTIN), London School of Economics. He was educated in Washington, New Zealand, and Sussex University and worked at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Sussex from 1972–1995. He has also worked at the World Bank, 1984–1988. He has undertaken fieldwork in a range of countries including: Italy, India, Korea, Taiwan and even Pitcairn Island.[1]

Awards

Recipient in 2008 (jointly with José Antonio Ocampo) of the Leontief Prize in recognition of his outstanding contribution to economic theory that addressed contemporary realities and supported just and sustainable societies.[1]
