Robert S. Taubman (born 1954) is an American heir and businessman.[1][2][3][4] He serves as the current Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Taubman Centers.[1][2][3][4][5]

Early life and education

Taubman was born to a Jewish family, the son of Reva (nee Kolodney)[6] and A. Alfred Taubman (born 1924). His father founded the Taubman Centers, headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.[4] He received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Boston University.[4][5]

Career

He joined his family business, Taubman Centers, in 1976.[1][4][5] He became Executive Vice President in 1984, Chief Operating Officer in 1988, President and Chief Executive Officer in 1990, and Chairman in 2001.[1][2][4][5]

He sits on the Board of Directors of Comerica (NYSE: CMA) and Sotheby's (NYSE: BID).[1][3][2][4][5][7][8] He has served on the Board of Governors of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) and the Board of Trustees of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Skillman Foundation.[1][3][4][5]

He sits on the Board of Directors of the Business Leaders for Michigan, the Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments and Beaumont Hospitals.[1][3][4] He also sits on the Board of Trustees of the Urban Land Institute, the Cranbrook Educational Community in Bloomfield Hills, where he is Chairman of the audit committee, and he serves as an advising member of the University of Michigan Investment Committee.[2][4] He also serves on the International Council Member of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.[5]

He is married to author Julie Reyes.[9]
