Robert Sidney Ladds SSC (born 15 November 1941) is an English bishop who served as the suffragan Bishop of Whitby from 1999 to 2008.[2]
Ladds was educated at Canterbury Christ Church University.[3]
He began his ordained ministry in 1981[4] as a curate in Hythe, Kent[5] and was then successively chaplain to Stewart Cross (Bishop of Blackburn), Vicar of Bretherton, Rector of Preston and finally (before his ordination to the episcopate) Archdeacon of Lancaster (1997–1999). A keen gardener[3] he was a chemistry teacher at Borden Grammar School, Sittingbourne before being ordained. He is the current Superior-General of the Society of Mary.
