Robert Cornegy, also known as Robert E. Cornegy Jr., is a Democratic New York City Council member from Brooklyn. He represents the 36th district, which covers Bedford-Stuyvesant and the northern Crown Heights section of the borough.[1]
He has been noted for his seven-foot frame.[2]
Early life and education
Robert Cornegy was born to the son of the pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn in New York City. He attended both St. John's University and University of Alabama.
Career
After returning to New York City, he became a Democratic Party district leader and the president of the Vanguard Independent Democratic Association. He was elected to the New York City Council's 36th District in a close race against Kirsten John Foy on November 5, 2013.[3]
