Robert Chartoff (born August 26, 1933) is an American film producer and philanthropist.
Biography
Early life
Robert Chartoff was born on August 26, 1933. He graduated from Union College in 1955, followed by Columbia University Law School.
Career
He has produced more than thirty movies. Together with fellow producer Irwin Winkler, he won an Academy Award for Best Picture for the 1976 film Rocky.
Philanthropy
He established the RC Charitable Foundation in 1990 to award grants to international schools and other child agencies. He continues to serve as its President. The RC Charitable Foundation gives grants awards to the Buddha Educational Trust.
He serves on the Community Advisory Board of the Younes and Soraya Israel Studies Center at UCLA.[1]
Personal life
His first wife was Phyllis Raphael, with whom he had three children - Jennifer, William and Julie. In 1970, he married British actress Vanessa Howard, with whom he had one son, Charley. The pair divorced sometime prior to 1983. He has one daughter, Miranda, with his current wife Jenny Weyman.
