Major-General Robert Cawthome (Urdu: رابرٹ کاتھوم) was an Australian-born British Army general officer, later serving in the Pakistan Army. He also became the Deputy Chief of Staff in the newly formed Pakistan Army. He also served as Major General in the Army[1] and remained Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence from 1950 to 1959.[2][3]
Inter-Services Intelligence
The Inter-Services Intelligence was founded by Cawthome.[1][4][5][6] At the end of December 1952, Major-General Cawthome, Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), sent a priority report to Commander Syed Mohammad Ahsan (Pakistan Navy), and asked for a detailed reaction from Pakistan Armed Forces personnel on the basic principles of the ISI.
