Robbie Boyd is a singer, songwriter and musician from London, United Kingdom.

In 2010, Boyd's musical talents attracted the attention of Sir Tim Rice who included Boyd's songs "Oh Alaska" and "New Hampshire" in his BBC Radio 2 series American Pie.[1][2] The following year, Robbie and his band won the "Alternative" category of Live and Unsigned and were also named London's "Busker of the Year".[3] In 2013 they reached the top 20 of MTV's Brand New for 2013 competition.[4]

During this time, Boyd released a number of singles and EPs which have received positive reviews[5][6][7][8] and in May 2014 released his debut album So Called Man.[9][10][11] Although Boyd does do solo performances, he is often accompanied by his band.[12] Boyd has played at a number of events and festivals in the UK and overseas[13] and has sold out several headline shows in London including The Borderline,[14] The Barfly [15] and Bush Hall.[16] To launch the Gigs Big Busk Competition in 2013 (a competition he won two years prior) Boyd performed on the roof of London's O2 Arena, being the first Briton to do so.[17] He has been played on various BBC radio stations, including Graham Norton's show on BBC Radio 2[18] and appeared twice on TV playing live on ITV's This Morning.[19][20] Boyd plays a number of musical instruments, including the Okinawan sanshin.[21]
