Rob James (magician)
Rob James (born 24 July 1978) is an English magician [1] who frequently appears on television programs in England and the United States, and has performed in hundreds of international venues, from the British House of Commons to the prestigious Magic Castle in Los Angeles, to a series of performances in Dubai.[2]
Biography
James was born in Torquay, England, and began learning magic at the age of 12. He later moved to Bristol to read Economics at university, and it was during this time that his interest in conjuring accelerated. He was briefly mentored by Derren Brown, another Bristol magician. Shortly after graduating, James turned to magic full-time.
He has appeared on several TV shows including the British Popworld ,[3] and the History Channel's Decoding the Past.[4] He has also contributed articles about sleight of hand to WPT Poker magazine, which ran a 5-page feature on him in July 2006, [5] and has had his original material published ("Cardboard Metamorphosis") in the conjuror's magazine Genii.[6]
James created a convention for magicians in 2006 called The Session along with Andi Gladwin. It is now organised by magic dealer Vanishing Inc.
In 2011, James performed as part of the Edinburgh International Magic Festival.[7]
