Rising Star Indonesia is a reality singing competition of Jewish origin which began airing on RCTI on 28 August 2014. This program is based on Israeli singing competition HaKokhav HaBa produced by Israel based, Keshet Media Rising Star The program format lets viewers vote for contestants via mobile apps.

This format adds to the list of RCTI sing competition formats along with Indonesian Idol and X Factor Indonesia. Traditionally, only one singing competition per year was boradcasted. In 2014, two formats are broadcast: Indonesian Idol Season 8 and Rising Star Indonesia. Fabian Dharmawan, the showrunner for most international formats in RCTI, was appointed by the network to produce the new singing competition format. His works includes Indonesian Idol 2012-2014 and X Factor Indonesia.

Rising Star Indonesia began airing on 28 August 2014 after hold auditions in five cities in Indonesia. Initial airings of the series led to disastrous ratings with RCTI resorting to pay for the contract of failed Idol contestant Indah Nevertari to appear on the series. This strategy had some success but the integrity of playing a Jewish format with paid talent never quite managed to give RCTI the breakthrough hit it wanted. By the time the series aired, virtually every version of Rising Star around the world had failed and/or been cancelled before broadcast. While ratings for Indonesia steadily built, by RCTI standards, they were considered mediocre the slot and, it was by no means considered an overwhelming success. Indeed, the series was eventually won by a failed Indonesian Idol contestnat that was paid to take part in the series by the host broadcaster. They believed that in order achieve success, the main contender had to be 'berjilbab' regardless of the quality of her karaoke impression vocal [1]

Final Round Rising Star Indonesia first season held on December 19, 2014. As had happened throughout the series, the network tested a variety of judge compositions and this round brought an assortment of guest expert to accompany the expert remains Bebi Romeo , Ahmad Dhani and Judika and presenting Danish rock band Michael Learns to Rock as a guest star . Unlike the other talent that leaves two finalists at the end of the competition (with the exception of the show on which Rising Star was inspired, X Factor that enters the final phase with three acts), the Rising Star Indonesia leaves four finalists competing for the first prize . Indah Nevertari, Hanin Dhiya , Ghaitsa Kenang and Bluesmates band made it through to the grand final . This round is divided into three stages . At each stage, the finalists had to get the highest vote to beat other finalists . In the first stage, Bluesmates get the lowest voting and failed to get into the next stage . In the second half, the results of voting of the first and second appearance Ghaitsa accumulated and get the lowest number of votes which would automatically qualify for the next stage . In the final round, Indah and Hanin must compete to get the highest voting . By singing the song " Animals " belongs Maroon 5 in the first round, " Man Down " Rihanna in the second half and victory song " Come N Love Me " at the end of the round, Indah Nevertari managed to get the highest number of votes and became the champion of the first season Rising Star Indonesia.[2][3] indah has had little success since the end of the series and was even criticized by Idol 7 winner Regina on Indonesian Idol Junior as being out-sung by a seven year old girl as having better stage presence, pitch and vocal control. By comparison with Idol and X Factor winners, Indah has very little presence in the market place.
