The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (English: Royal Academy of Visual Arts) is a residency programme for visual artists, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The Rijksakademie was founded in 1870 as a classical Akademia, a place where philosophers, academics and artists meet to test and exchange ideas and knowledge.

Funded by the Dutch government, residents are granted a stipend and are allotted a personal studio in the former military barracks building in which the Rijksakademie is housed. The institute also offers manned workplaces and a library specializing in visual arts and art theory. A small group of recognized artists service as professors and advise the students. Each year, approximately thirty applicants are accepted as residents. The number of applicants can be as high as 1,900 annually, as was the case in 2010. Rijksacademie residents come from various countries. Usually, around half of the yearly resident artists are Dutch.
