RightThisMinute is a daily syndicated viral video TV show featuring online videos and five hosts who comment on them. The series debuted on September 12, 2011. Initially episodes were one hour long, but in 2012, the series changed its format and now produces two half-hour episodes daily, as well as a ‘best of’ half hour weekend show. Some stations choose to air both daily half hours as an hour block, while other stations choose to air only one of the half hours or split them into different time slots. Full episodes of the show are also available on the show’s website, RightThisMinute.com. RightThisMinute is co-hosted by Beth Troutman, Christian Vera, Gayle Bass (also the "Click Chick" on KTAR-FM), Nick Calderone and Oli Pettigrew. Steven Fabian was one of the five original hosts and was with the show from September 2011 - September 2014.
RightThisMinute is syndicated to stations across the country. Originally, it was broadcast only on stations owned by Cox Media, Raycom Media, and The E.W. Scripps Company. In 2013, RightThisMinute partnered with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Television (MGM) for its distribution needs. As a result, Fox Television Stations picked up RTM for broadcast by Fox O&O stations in ten markets.[1] This led to the show’s growth into approximately 91% of U.S. television markets as a Monday-Friday strip. Between February and September 2014 the show aired on cable channel HLN.
During its first season the show was produced at the Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Season two saw the show move its daily operations to its current home in Ahwatukee, Arizona, a neighborhood of Phoenix, AZ.[2]
