Ridleys Ferry, California

Ridleys Ferry (also, Benton Mills) is a former settlement in Mariposa County, California.[1] It was located on the south bank of the Merced River opposite Bagby.[1]

Thomas E. Ridley operated a ferry at the place from 1850 to 1852.[1] The settlement endured during the 1850s and 1860s.[1] John C. Fremont built a stamp mill at the place and renamed it Benton Mills in honor of Senator Thomas Hart Benton, his father-in-law.[1]
