Riddells Creek railway station is located on the Bendigo line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the town of Riddells Creek.[1]

History

The station opened with the line and was a signal box and block post using the telegraph instruments by 1879, with Winter’s instruments provided by 1890. A six lever frame was provided in 1927 for control of signals, until closed as a block post in 1993. The station was renamed ‘Riddell’ in 1904 as part of a policy to adopt short station names but was renamed to the full version in 1976.[2]

Platforms & services

Riddells Creek has two side island platforms. It is serviced by V/Line Bendigo line services.[3][4] In the morning, trains to Melbourne depart from Platform 2, and trains to Bendigo depart from Platform 1, this reverses in the afternoon. This is to allow services in the peak direction of travel to utilise the single 160 km/h track that was upgraded in 2006 as part of the Regional Fast Rail project. In January 2014 the platforms were extended to accommodate longer trains.[5]
