Ricky Hoover (born 1985) is an American metal singer, lyricist, businessman, and barber. He is best known as the former lead vocalist for the Oakland, California based deathcore band Suffokate.

Career

Ricky joined deathcore band Suffokate in 2008.[1] He replaced former vocalist Jared Armitage. He provided vocals on two studio albums with the band. The first was released in 2010 under the title No Mercy, No Forgiveness. The second, released in 2011, was titled Return to Despair. On May 2, 2012 Hoover announced that he had left the band citing that it was in the best interest of everyone. He was replaced by Matthew Aaron Scott Krawchuk on April 8, 2013.[2]

Personal life

Hoover has many tattoos, stating that he loves getting tattoos.[3] He is trying to get nearly his entire body tattooed.[4] He is also straight edge meaning that he refrains from using alcohol, tobacco, and other recreational drugs. His first tattoo was an incomplete straight edge razor.[5] He alongside his father own a company called Gotwood Plugs, which manufactures 100 percent organic body jewelry and ear plugs.[6] He has stated The Black Dahlia Murder as the reason he got into metal music.[7] In July 2013, Ricky Hoover underwent successful earlobe reconstructive surgery as he had "finally come to his senses about the situation".[8]
