Rick Kriseman (born August 2, 1962) is the mayor of St. Petersburg, Florida. He is a former member of the Florida House of Representatives representing the 53rd district.
Personal life and education
Kriseman was born in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Florida in 1972. He received his bachelor's degree in broadcasting from the University of Florida in 1984 and his Juris Doctorate from Stetson University in 1987.[1]
Career
Kriseman served on the St. Petersburg City Council from 2000 to 2006.[2] Kriseman was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2006, spending his entire career in the minority.[3] Kriseman was elected mayor of St. Petersburg, Florida in 2013, defeating Republican incumbent mayor Bill Foster. Kriseman took 55 percent of the vote.[4] Kriseman took office in 2014.[5]
