Special programs
Athletics
Richland Springs won the 2004, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2012 state six-man football championships. In 2009, the Coyotes moved from Division I for bigger six-man schools to Division II for smaller six-man schools. The 2007 team may have been the most dominant six-man team in state history – in all but one game the referees invoked the mercy rule on the opponent (under UIL rules, this meant that Richland Springs was ahead by 45 or more points at or after halftime), and the one game in which the mercy rule was not invoked (the title game against Rule) Richland Springs won by 44 points (one shy of yet another mercy rule win). The 2007 team was nominated by Dave Campbell's Texas Football in its 50th anniversary special as the #45 most memorable team (pro, college, or high school) in Texas History.[2]
