Richard Womack

William Richard Womack (born 1974)^[1] is a Republican member of the Arkansas House of Representatives from District 18, based in Arkadelphia in Clark County in South Arkansas. The district also includes parts of Dallas, Hot Spring, and Garland counties.^[2] He was initially elected in 2012.

Womack graduated in 1993 from Benton High School in Benton in Saline County near Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1997, he graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. Self-employed in the paint and construction business,^[2] he is a married father of seven children.

On November 6, 2012, Womack defeated the Democrat Fred W. Harris of Arkadelphia.^[3] Womack received 5,865 votes (52.8 percent) to Harris' 5,247 (47.2 percent).^[4] In his campaign Womack was endorsed by Huck PAC, Mike Huckabee's political action committee.^[5]

Womack serves on the House Public Health and City, County & Local committees.^[6] In January 2013, Womack proposed House Resolution 1003 to encourage all branches of federal, state and local governments to respect and preserve Second Amendment rights and oppose any action that would "abridge, infringe upon, or limit the right to keep and bear arms."^[7]
