Richard Tanne is an American writer, producer, and actor.

Life and career

Tanne was born in Livingston, New Jersey. He began writing as a teenager and was the recipient of the New Jersey Governor's Award for Excellence in Arts Education for playwriting.[1] He was also the winner of the Young Playwrights Inc. National Playwriting Competition, founded by Stephen Sondheim.[2] Tanne went on to produce the horror film Mischief Night, which was released on May 20, 2014 through After Dark Films and Lionsgate.[3] Tanne also co-wrote, co-produced, and acted in the upcoming 2014 film Worst Friends, co-starring Kristen Connolly and Cody Horn.[4] He was also the host and co-creator of the movie culture talk show Cinema Cool.[5] He was announced as the co-writer of "The Roman," an upcoming Julius Caesar movie to be produced by Mark Wahlberg.[6] As an actor, his credits include the SyFy Channel movie Swamp Shark, and the ABC Family show The Nine Lives of Chloe King.[7][8]

Tanne would direct a romance film titled Southside With You based on the first date of American President Barack and his wife Michelle Obama, set in Chicago where couple met first time in 1989 and then married in 1992.[9] Tika Sumpter would be playing Michelle while there was no one cast for Barack's role.[10] Tanne wrote the film's script.[9]
