Revelation Rock-Gospel Choirs

Revelation is a registered charity supporting a network of Christian-based rock-gospel choirs in student institutions throughout the United Kingdom and with spin-off choirs in the Czech Republic.

Choir Locations

There are currently choirs in:

Everyone is welcome no matter what their ability, talents or beliefs. The aim is to create an environment where friendships can be built and hidden abilities drawn out; Revelation is more than just a choir. During normal practise, the choir is usually not serious, but they can seriously sing when it comes to the concert.

Organisation

As a charity Revelation overseen by a board of trustees, while the day-to-day operation is staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers led by the Network Co-ordinator (NC). This post lasts for two years and is currently held by Mario Satchwell. The national charity exists to support the choirs with the choirs operating independently, but are all represented at regular meetings informing the future and direction of Revelation Rock-Gospel Choirs. The choirs often invite other choirs to their events and attend national and regional events with other choirs in the network.

The main national event has been held annually since 1994 and is called "Week in March" or WiM, around the Easter holidays. It is attended by members from all the choirs and held in different place each year. In 2014, WiM was hosted in Warrington.

Previously WiM has been in Croydon (2013), Coventry (2012), Cambridge (2011) and Aberdeen (2010). The 2010 event took place in the Inchgarth Community Centre.[1]

Repertoire

Revelation is not only limited to music, but "other performing arts", which usually includes dance and drama, though these are always secondary to the main focus of singing.

Music is usually traditional gospel and gospel arrangements of popular and classic pieces.
