History
Rev.com was started by Jason Chicola and Josh Breinlinger, two early employees of oDesk in 2010.[2] The company received $4.5 million in Series A financing from Globespan Capital Partners to compete with freelancer sites like TaskRabbit and Fiverr.[3]
According to the company, Rev hires roughly ten percent of freelancers who apply. The average, part-time translator earns about $1,000/month with the busiest translators bringing in $4,000/month. The comparable figures for those doing part-time transcription work are $250 and $1200.[4]
