ResellerClub, a part of the Directi Group,[1] founded in 1998,[2] is a major registrar services reseller[3] and is considered as one of the world’s largest ICANN accredited Registrars.[4] As of January 29, 2014, ResellerClub claims to manage around 4.25 million domains with its network of more than 0.2 million direct and indirect resellers across the world.[5]
History
In 2008, ResellerClub took over 281,000 domains registered under EstDomainsInc after EstDomains was de-credited on charges of hosting illegal content websites and other fraudulent activities.[1] [6][7]
In 2010, ResellerClub launched a Localization Partner Program, which used crowdsourcing as a way to enable the translation of the control panel into multiple languages. [8]
By November 2013, ResellerClub announced that they would halt all business operations with customers from countries such as Iran, Syria, Cuba, Sudan and North Korea.[9] This was due to the expected conversion into a U.S. based entity which required them to adhere to the U.S. govt. sanctions imposed on these countries. Domain names registered for customers from Iran, Cuba, Syria, Sudan and North Korea were to be automatically transferred to Resello, a new sister concern of RealTime Register.[10]
Business
ResellerClub also is a provider of Shared Hosting, Reseller Hosting as well as virtual private server (VPS) solutions, in addition to a comprehensive suite of generic top-level domain (gTLDs), country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs) and other web presence related products.[2]
Recent Timeline
In 2012, the company held ResellerClub Hosting Summit in Mumbai which attracted more than 1,800 attendees. This was considered as the largest web hosting industry event in Asia. [11] [12]
In 2013, the ResellerClub Hosting Summit attracted more than 2800+ attendees in Gurgaon. This consisted of web hosting resellers and providers, domain name registrars, internet service providers (ISPs), data centers and web designers. [13]
In 2014, ResellerClub partnered with iNET Interactive,[14] [15] the parent of HostingCon (HostingCon is the premier industry conference and trade show for hosting and cloud providers)[16] [17] [18] to produce HostingCon events in countries like India, China,[19] and Europe.[2]
