Republic of the United States of Brazil

Republic of the United States of Brazil[1] (1889-1937) was the name of Brazil after the end of the Empire of Brazil.

The time from 1889 to the Brazilian Revolution of 1930 is also known as the First Brazilian Republic (Old Republic). This marked the beginning of the Vargas Era.

In 1937 the republic was renamed into United States of Brazil. This was the beginning of the Estado Novo period (1937–1945).

The provinces of Brazil were transformed into the states of Brazil.
