Rena Matsui (松井 玲奈 Matsui Rena, born July 27, 1991 in Toyohashi, Aichi) is a member of the Japanese idol girl group SKE48 and held a concurrent position in Nogizaka46. She originally joined as a member of SKE48's Team S but on April 2013, she became the leader of team E.[1] She has participated in the main lineup of not only SKE48 but also AKB48 singles.

Career

Rena Matsui participated in the first SKE48 audition held in July 2008, and was selected to join the group. Team S made its debut on October 5, 2008.[2] She was also chosen to be in the main lineup for AKB48's single "10nen Zakura".

In April 2013, SKE48 reorganized the teams, and Matsui was appointed the captain of Team E.[1] In AKB48's 2013 General Election, she placed seventh overall with 73,173 votes.[3][4]

Matsui Rena released her 2nd photobook titled, "Hemeretto" on April 1, 2014.[5] In AKB48's 2014 General Election, she placed fifth overall with 69,790 votes. In 2014, she landed one of the lead role in a movie entitled "Gift" alongside actor Kenichi Endo. The movie was released on the 12th of June 2014 at several theaters in Nagoya but soon expand to Tokyo as the movie was very well perceived.
