Reflec Beat Limelight (stylized as REFLEC BEAT limelight; also used on further explanation) is the second installment of the popular REFLEC BEAT series. The location test was announced on June 20, 2011.[1] Yokohama location test started on June 22, 2011.[2] Nagoya and Osaka had their location test started on June 24, 2011.[2] They all ended on June 28, 2011.[2]
Gameplay
REFLEC BEAT limelight retains the traditional REFLEC BEAT gameplay-air hockey style-with some new additions. While the MEDIUM difficulty uses 2 2TOP receptors, on HARD, one more 2TOP receptor is added, making it 3 2TOP receptors available only on HARD, namely 3TOP.[3] Not only that, 2TOP receptors will also have its own Long Object.[4]
When a player meet the AAA getting conditions when playing a song on a difficulty, there will be a "PERFECT!" sound effect just like jubeat with "EXCELLENT" sound effect when doing the same.[5]
Also, CLEAR GAUGE is introduced in this series. CLEAR GAUGE is actually works almost similar as GROOVE GAUGE in Beatmania IIDX, where it can increase or decrease according to player's performance. The only difference is while on IIDX, the passing zone is when you reached 80% of the gauge, the passing zone (namely CLEAR ZONE in this game) in REFLEC BEAT limelight is 70% of the gauge.[6]
LIME System
LIME System is a song-unlocking system on REFLEC BEAT limelight. Same with its successor, LIME System uses levelling system. Some levels include hidden songs as well. Hidden songs from REFLEC BEAT is also present as hidden songs for this system. This unlocking system requires an e-Amusement Pass.
Lincle LINK
The fourth Lincle LINK with Beatmania IIDX 19: Lincle was started on December 26, 2011. The fifth Lincle LINK was announced. Several songs from Beatmania IIDX series will make appearance.
Music
There are 101 new songs and a total of 189 songs up until now.[7] Most of the songs from previous game are also present.

Sequel
The third installment, REFLEC BEAT colette was announced on June 26, 2012. The name is likely to be a portmanteau of "color" and "palette" as the overall theme of the game seems to be based on color palettes. Location test was held on June 28 to July 1, 2012 at Akihabara, Tokyo.[8]
