Spanish Reconquest or just Reconquest is a period of the history of Chile that starts with the Disaster of Rancagua in 1814 and ends in 1817 with the victory in the Battle of Chacabuco. During this time the defenders of the Spanish Empire restore its domain in Chile, while the patriots try to spread the independence ideas among the people, this was made by the guerrilla of Manuel Rodríguez Erdoiza. Some authors such as Julio Heise or Jaime Eyzaguirre prefer name this period Absolutist Restore, considering that was only the return of the royalists to the power.
