Rebecca Pike
Rebecca Pike is the Business presenter on the Simon Mayo Drivetime show on BBC Radio 2. She can be heard every weekday between 17:00 and 19:00.
Early life
Pike attended Bedales School, where she was Head Girl, and Magdalen College, Oxford, where she studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.
Journalism career
Pike started her career at the Express and Star in Wolverhampton before moving to the Daily Telegraph. She joined the BBC as a News Trainee.[1]
She then became a business and economics reporter for the BBC.[2][3] She has worked as a reporter on a number of radio and TV news programmes, including the Today programme, Radio 4's Six O'Clock News, Radio 5 Live, BBC One's TV news bulletins,[1] BBC World Service[4] and the BBC News channel.[1]
In 2009 she worked as a presenter of Wake Up to Money on Radio 5 Live.[1]
In 2011 she appeared as the main overnight presenter on the BBC News channel and BBC World.
She started on Drivetime on Radio 2 in 2006, when Chris Evans began hosting the show.[1] She was nicknamed "Foxy" after the popular "Fox the Fox" feature, in which listeners were invited to try and 'outfox' her with difficult financial questions.[1] She also presents the "Innovation Slot" on the Drivetime programme on Friday at 18:30.[5]
Since she's been on the show, it has been awarded three Gold Sony Awards - two as Best Entertainment Show with Chris Evans and one as Best Music Programme with Simon Mayo.
Other activities
Pike co-presented the Sony Radio Academy Awards nominations ceremony in 2008.
Personal life
Pike is half Chinese. She is married with two children, a daughter and a son, and lives in London.[1]
