Rebecca 'Beki' Onslow (born Rebecca Barrington Onslow, 3 January 1975) nicknamed Boo Boo by her friends is a Welsh singer song writer dancer who is most famous as a lead singer and a member of the 1990s English Girlband Solid HarmoniE. Onslow was one of the original members of the group, arguably the founder of Solid HarmoniE. Solid HarmoniE was fairly successful in Europe and Asia - their album went gold, winning thousands of fans worldwide with their music. The group split in 1999.

Biography

Onslow was born in Swansea and grew up in Llanelli, Wales. She has two elder brothers named Stuart and Avi. She went to the same school as Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls. Beki had an enormous interest in the world of showbiz from childhood. She was inspired by musical artists like Belinda Carlisle, Bananarama and Madonna. By the time she was nine she started modelling regularly for local TV and print ad campaigns, as well as acting at local theater. Onslow attended a London college for performing arts (with a full scholarship from Cameron Macintosh for musical theater), where she caught the attention of a top London agent, which led to a 1995 audition for a German-based British female vocal trio that eventually came to be known as Solid HarmoniE.

Music career

She started Solid Harmonie with Mariama in 1995. They found Melissa Graham playing in a popular Irish band Calvary in 1996 and this was the time when they released their first single "Got 2 Have Ya". Shortly after the release Mariama quit the band due to her mother's illness. Melissa and Onslow did a tour in Germany, but they needed a third member. Elisa Cariera joined them the following year when the two were in Orlando, Florida USA with their management. Soon they became a four-piece as Mariama rejoined the group. This was the time when the group had tasted most of its success as a girlband with their debut eponymous albums along with numerous successful singles. Solid HarmoniE enjoyed considerable success and popularity in Germany, Netherlands, and few countries like Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong in Asia where they had toured on different occasions during 1997-98. However there were problems between their management and the recording label Jive Records and soon two members abandoned Solid HarmoniE. Mariama joined the R&B group Honeyz and Melissa went for a solo career. Onslow and Elisa decided to stay with Solid HarmoniE and went back to Orlando, Florida in 1999 where they had several successful tours. The two soon picked up a new member, Jenilca Giusti after an audition held in Elisa's hometown Orlando, Florida and soon started recording for a new album. Their new album had more of R&B influence rather than their previous girlband scheme. The new album included songs produced by such heavyweights as Tony Battaglia (Mandy Moore), Billy Chapin (Backstreet Boys, Leslie Carter) and Andy Goldmark (Jennifer Paige). The new Solid harmoniE trio was on the cover of TeenFaces Magazine on its October 2000 issue. However, their new album was never released as they could not come to an agreement with their record label, or find a new one once they were without a label. In 2003, the new version of Solid HarmoniE broke up and both Onslow and Elisa decided to go their separate ways to pursue solo careers.

Solo career

Even though Solid HarmoniE was not officially over until late 2002 or early 2003, Onslow started working on her solo record from a lot earlier than that and her first solo single "Wake up" was released on 15 January 2002 released by Logic Records/BMG, composed along with DJ/producer Guido and remixed by Johnny Vicious. This is her only released single to date known to the media and her fans.

Personal life

Onslow has moved to the United States of America after getting married to her boyfriend Paul Russo, an American business owner, and is now working hard to make a name for herself as a solo artist in America. Recently she gave birth to a child.
