Raya is a town and a Nagar Panchayat in Mathura district in state of Uttar Pradesh.

Geography

Raya is located at 27°34′N 77°47′E / 27.57°N 77.78°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 175 m (574 ft).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Raya had a population of 17,990. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Raya has an average literacy rate of 54%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 61%, and female literacy is 47%. In Raya, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age. Raya is located in Brijbhoomi. People in raya are mostly business dependents there are office Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, (A leading communication company of established by Govt. of India), UP State Govt. block level office. Its single market for near about 360 villages around it. In Raya, The Sohn Halwa and Pera are very famous, Shri ji Midhai Bala and Sons sweetseller is famous for Sohn Halwa whereas the Ballo Mal and Sons Dairy and Pera shop is famous for Pera and other milk products.

In Education, for girls there is Srimati Prem Lata Devi Degree College, while for the engineering students P.K institute of Technology Situated at Village Virhana-Kumha Road, a counterpart of this institute at Village Sonai, 8 km away from Raya on Hathras Raya road.Another CCS College of Pharmacy and technology is situated at Raya-Mant at least 4 km apart.

There are other colonies and roads in Raya town. Raya is well connected to Delhi, Aligarh, Hathras, Khair, Mathura, Noida and Greater Noida Ghaziabad raya has a peaceful and friendly environment.
