Raymond James Newland (Was born 19 July 1971 in Liverpool) is an English former professional football goalkeeper.

Career

Ray Newland began his career as a trainee with Chester City, before joining Winsford United. He then moved to Welsh side Newtown where he won both players and supporters player of the year in his first season. He then spent two years at Everton before moving to Plymouth Argyle in July 1990 after Wales goalkeeping legend Neville Southall had recommended him to Plymouth manager and ex-England goalkeeper Peter Shilton.

Rays goalkeeping career then took him to other professional clubs that included, another spell at Chester City, Torquay United, Leek Town, Clydebank in the Scottish league before returning to England and signing for Wigan Athletic.

Ray then had a training ground injury while playing for Wigan Athletic that finished his career aged just 28. However Ray started Just4keepers goalkeeper training schools that has become the leading and largest globally, operating in 22 countries and across 5 continents at the time of writing. Ray is the only goalkeeper coach in history to achieve to this feat as his training methodology is coached worldwide.

Career Continued

Ray continues to run Just4keepers and his goalkeeper coaching organisation has helped more young goalkeepers than any other similar goalkeeper coaching school in history and he also founded Just4kstrikers which he ran across 5 countries.

In 2011 Ray also brought out his own goalkeeper sports and goalkeeping glove brand J4K. (J4K Goalkeeper gloves)
