Abdul Rauff Hibathul Hakeem (born April 13, 1960), MP is a Sri Lankan politician. He is the National leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, a Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage. He was educated at the prestigious Royal College Colombo. He is the Holder of LLB & Master of Law - LLM.
Hakeem held different portfolio under United National Party and United People's Freedom Alliance governments. Hakeem was appointed the leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress in 2000 after the death of M. H. M. Ashraff. In 2001 he was removed from his cabinet position by President Chandrika Kumaratunga.http://www.thehindu.com/2001/06/21/stories/0121000a.htm In 2001 he's party join the United National Party and form a new Government and he was appointed the Minister of Posts & Telecommunication by Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe. He joined President Mahinda Rajapaksa in 2010 and was appointed to his cabinet as the Minister of Justice. Later in 2015 Hakeem left Rajapaksa to support the common oppression led by the United National Party. The alliance won the election and Hakeem was appointed the Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage by President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe.
