Ranjeeta "Robby" Kaur (born 22 September 1956) is an Indian movie actress.[1] She was trained at FTII. She has appeared in around 47 films.
Personal life and education
Ranjeeta was born in Punjab. Her sister Rubina Nijjar also acted in films such as "Ek Main Aur Ek Tu" in 1986 along-with Raj Tandon the elder brother of Raveena Tandon.
She married Raj Masand and has a son named Sky.[2] Ranjeeta lives with her husband Raj and son Sky in Norfolk, Virginia, US. They own a series of 7-Eleven stores in Virginia.[3] Sky is a famed Tennis player and studies in college in the US.
She was associated with an International School in Pune, handling Public Relations in the mid-2000s, before moving to the US.
Career
Kaur started her film career as the lead opposite Rishi Kapoor in the movie Laila Majnu (1976). Subsequently, she acted in hits like Pati Patni Aur Woh (with Sanjeev Kumar) and Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se (with Sachin). She made a famous team with Mithun Chakravorty in films such as Surakshaa, Tarana, Humse Badhkar Kaun, Aadat Se Majboor, Baazi and Gunahon Ka Devta. She also was one of Amitabh Bachchan's heroines in Satte Pe Satta. Her sister Rubina appeared in Ek Main aur Ek Tu opposite Rajeev Tandon (Raveena Tandon's brother). Ranjeeta was very closely associated with the Rajshri family having churned out so many hits like Taraana, Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se etc. She starred with Raj Babbar, Raj Kiran, Deepak Parashar, Vinod Mehra, Amol Palekar and many other heroes, but her most famous pairing was with Mithun Chakraborty. Her last film before her exit from the film industry was Gunahon Ka Devta in 1990.
After gap of almost 18 years, Ranjeeta returned to acting in Zindagi Tere Naam which reunited her with her frequent co-star Mithun Chakraborty. The film was completed in 2008 but was released in 2012. In 2011 she reunited with Sachin in Jaana Pehchana, a sequel to her 1978 film Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se.[4] She had also debuted on Television years back but withdrew quickly. Currently, she resides with her family in Virginia.
