Rangpur Division cricket team
Rangpur Division cricket team is a first-class cricket team representing Rangpur Division, the northernmost division of Bangladesh. It joined the National Cricket League in 2011-12, along with Dhaka Metropolis, when the competition was expanded from six teams to eight.
Results in National Cricket League
- 2011-12: two wins in seven matches, finished sixth
- 2012-13: one win in seven matches, finished seventh
- 2013-14: three wins in seven matches, finished third
- 2014-15: four wins in seven matches, champions
At the end of the 2014-15 season Rangpur Division had played 28 first-class matches, with 10 wins, 8 losses and 10 draws.[1]
Leading players
Rangpur Division has had four Test players: Nasir Hossain, Naeem Islam, Sajidul Islam and Suhrawadi Shuvo. The team's captain in 2011-12 was Tariq Ahmed, in 2012-13 and 2013-14 it was Suhrawadi Shuvo, and in 2014-15 it was Sajidul Islam.
The two highest scores for Rangpur Division were made in the same innings: Dhiman Ghosh made 183 and Alauddin Babu 180, and they shared a fifth-wicket partnership of 322, which is also Rangpur Division's highest partnership for any wicket, in the match against Chittagong Division in 2011-12.[2] The best bowling figures are 6 for 56 by Alauddin Babu against Khulna Division in 2012-13.[3]
Grounds
So far Rangpur Division has played only three home matches, all of them at Rangpur Cricket Garden.
