- ¡Three Amigos! (1986) (songs: "The Ballad of the Three Amigos," "My Little Buttercup," and "Blue Shadows")

- Her Alibi (song: "Falling In Love")
Newman's song "I Love L.A." was used in of the film Volcano, running over the end credits. The song was also used during a scene in Bean: The Ultimate Disaster movie (1997)
- Babe: Pig in the City (1998) (song: "That'll Do", performed by Peter Gabriel)
Newman also performed a song he did not write, and conducted Jack Nitzsche's original music, for the soundtrack of the film Performance (1970). Newman also covered the Fats Domino song "I'm In Love Again" for the soundtrack of "Shag" (1989).
