Rana Roy

Rana Roy (born 1 October 1986) is an English singer, dancer and actress of Egyptian, Indian, Noubian and Spanish descent.

Bio

Rana Roy born 1 October 1986 (26) in London, U.K is English actress, singer, dancer of Egyptian, Indian, Noubian and Spanish descent. She grew up with her father in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, traveling regularly to the U.S to stay with her mother.

Aged 9 Rana enrolled in dance classes as an extra curricular activity. Training with an amazing and inspiring teacher Sharmila Kamte, Rana dedicated all her energy to dance and started performing professionally by the age of 13.

At 16, she moved to London to attend a performing arts college, London Studio Centre. After graduating the 3 year course she worked as a backing dancer for various artists including, James Morrison, Melanie C from the Spice Girls and Corinne Bailey Rae.

Rana was a competitor on the BBC show ‘Dance X’ with Arlene Phillips and Bruno Tonlioni as judges. Her team went on to win the show releasing a single and touring with U.S superstars Rihanna and Ciara around the U.K. They also released a workout video, ‘Dance Xtreme’.

Soon after finishing the tour Rana landed a lead role as Lola for a new ITV1 show ‘Britannia High’. It was a 9 episode drama series about 6 students in a performing arts college and included music videos in each episode. The soundtrack was released on an album with Universal Records and Rana got to work with top songwriters including Gary Barlow, Guy Chambers and Elliot Kennedy. The directors she worked with on the show were Brian Grant, Declan O’Dwyer and Minkie Spiro.

Britannia High along with having 8 merchandise and licensing deals, has gone global being bought by over 20 top television networks worldwide including MBC (Middle-East), HBO (Latin America), Seven Network and Nickelodeon (Australia).

Career

Roy has appeared as a dancer in many off TV, Film and Commercial productions including Calvin Harris' - The Girls and Mel C's - I Want Candy.

Roy played a role in a drama called Britanna High, where she played the character of 'Lola'-an aspiring dancer. The TV series was released on DVD.

Roy was part of the BBC show DanceX and was in Bruno Tonioli's winning team Pulse. She starred as Lola in the ITV show Britannia High, alongside fellow DanceX winner Marcquelle Ward and Skins' Mitch Hewer.
