Ramon Magsaysay High School (RMHS) is a high school in Manila, Philippines. It was founded as the Governor Forbes annex of V. Mapa High School in 1952. In 1959, it was renamed Ramon Magsaysay High School, in honor of former Philippine president Ramon Magsaysay.

History

Its first principal was Maria M. Ocampo (1959–1972) followed by William L. Estrada (1972–1976) and then Mateo A. Angeles (1976–1987), Esperanza B. Bautista (1987–1995,) Elena R. Ruiz (1996–1997), Leon R. San Miguel (1997–1999), Cristina C. Reyes (1999–2010) and now Alma C. Tadina (2010–present)

Chorale Group

The Ramon Magsaysay High School (RMHS) Chorale Manila consists of carefully selected and trained high school students of Ramon Magsaysay High School Manila. A group composed of young talented music-loving students under the guidance of their Choir Director, Michael G. dela Peña. The Chorale aims to spread the splendor of music and to share the magnificence of God’s gift. The RMHS Chorale performed in various musical presentations on and off campus, and they have participated and won numerous competitions such as winning the first prize for four consecutive years in the Rotary Club International Chorale Competition (2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008) and received a hall fame award. The Group most significant victory was winning the First Place in the most prestigious competition in the Philippines, the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), November 25, 2005 . The Chorale was hailed as “The Best Chorale Group of the Year” in the Philippines for two consecutive years by The Aliw Awards Foundation (2006 and 2007). Recently, the group won two silver diplomas in the youth and folklore category in “2008 Hong Kong International Youth and Children’s Choir Festival” last July 12-19 2008. Champion in the Cultural Peace Festival at the Chang Kai Shek College, December 10, 2008. Champion in the Paskong- pasko sa Metro Manila Chorale Competition in the WOW Philippines clamshell Intramuros, Manila, December 14, 2008. With these accomplishments and opportunities, the Ramon Magsaysay High School Chorale continues to share its mission and vision as one of the most outstanding performing group through its distinctive style of singing. As a performing group, they stand firm in their vow to touch the heart and the soul of every man through music.
