Ramjee Chandran is the MD and Editor-in-Chief of Explocity Pvt Ltd.[1] His life in the publishing area began in 1989, with a magazine called Bangalore This Fortnight (BTF). BTF metamorphosed into what we know today as Explocity Guide (formerly known as Cityinfo magazine).

Early Career

Chandran launched The Bangalore Monthly, which was a socio-civic magazine that dealt with investigative stories.

Around the time when India was just waking up to the charms of the Internet, Chandran had already gone online with Bangaloremag.com - one of the first city-centric websites in the world.[2]

NewsCorp Funding and beyond

Around 2000, after a meeting with well-known media giant Rupert Murdoch, Chandran acquired funding from Murdoch's NewsCorp and created Explocity.com which grew to be a range of city-centric websites catering to users based in India, New York and Dubai. Chandran continued his publication presence in both print and online media.

Present

In November 2013, Chandran's opinions on the Campa Cola Compound housing society were aired on Arnab Goswami's Newshour Debate on Times Now.[3] In September 2012, Chandran was part of a panel that discussed the legitimacy of Karnataka Members of Parliament using Tax payers' money to go on a tour on the news channel Times Now.[4] Others in the panel were – Lok Sabha MP, Jayprakash Hegde, Former Cabinet Secretary TSR Subramanian and BJP's Karnataka State Spokesperson Dhananjaya Kumar.
In October 2011, Chandran was listed among the best entrepreneurs from Karnataka in an article on Rediff.com.[5]
In April 2011, Chandran launched Executive Traveller, a magazine for Indian business travellers.
In April 2009, the Public Relations Council of India conferred the prestigious Chanakya Award for Innovative Leadership on Chandran.[6]

Personal Life

Chandran is also a jazz guitarist[7] and has performed with other acclaimed musicians on stage.[8]

Chandran is reportedly working on an online version of his anthology of 20 years of articles published in various publications.
