Rajnagar (Bengali: রাজনগর) is an Upazila of Moulvibazar District in the Division of Sylhet, Bangladesh.

Geography

Rajnagar is located at 24°31′10″N 91°52′00″E / 24.5194°N 91.8667°E . It has 29305 units of house hold and total area 338.15 km².There are three well known rivers - the Kushiara,the Manu and the Dholai which flow across and upazila boarder side of Rajnagar.The Kushiara by the North,the Manu mostly across the southern three unions-Kamarchak,Tengrabazar and Mansurnager and the Dholai across Kamarchak and southern boarder.

Demographics

As of the 2011 Bangladesh census, Rajnagar has a population of 232666.Where males population 113149, and females 119517.Out of total population there are 180566 Muslims,51867 Hindus, 4 Buddha,133 Christian and 92 of other religions. This Upazila's eighteen up population is about 100000. Rajnagar has an average literacy rate of 48.6% (7+ years), and the national average of 42.4% literate.[1]

Rajnagar has 8 Unions- 1.Fatehpur,2. Uttarbhag,3. Munshibazar,4.Panch goan 5.Rajnager, 6. Tengrabazar,7. Kamarchak and 8. Monsurnager .149 Mauzas/Mahallas, and 255 villages. Rajnagar is a very nice place where there are many tea gardens and historical places. The natural beauties of tea gardens has made Rajnagar one of the most attractive place in Bangladesh.The first Upazila Chairman Freedom Fighter Rana Choudhury is the founder (Actual founder Principal Abdul Ahad Choudhury)of Rajnagar Degree College, Major General Abdu Rab is the Co-founder of that college. Munshibazar is one of the most important commercial Union in this Upazila where you will find all types of your necessary goods and services. Trade and Business of this area are growing day by day. There are so many tea gardens in this upazila where one can find the nature and colour of life. List of some reputed person of Munshibazar are given below. 1. Eng.
