Rajini Murugan is an upcoming Tamil romantic comedy film directed by Ponram, who made his debut with Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam (2013). The film has Sivakarthikeyan, Keerthi Suresh in the lead roles, while Soori, Samuthirakani and Rajkiran play supporting roles. The film produced by Thirrupathi Brothers will feature music by D. Imman and cinematography by Balasubramaniem.[1]

In August--- 2013, director Ponram's next project was announced, which was said to star Sivakarthikeyan and be produced by Lingusamy. D. Imman was selected to compose the film's music and Balasubramaniem was handed the cinematography.[3] Sivakarthikeyan was reported to play a real-estate broker in the film.[4]

Nazriya Nazim and Samantha Ruth Prabhu were among the forerunners for the lead female role,[1][5] which went to Lakshmi Menon.[6] Her role was said to be a "feisty one", which included the character performing some street fights with other women.[7] Soori was selected to play Sivakarthikeyan's sidekick in the film.[8] Rajkiran was selected to play the role of Sivakarthikeyan's grandfather.[9][10] Actor-director Samuthirakani was signed on to play the film's antagonist.[11] The role of the heroine finally went to Keerthi Suresh.[12]

Principal photography commenced on 25 August 2014.[5]

The soundtrack was composed by D. Imman, which is the Third time he has contributed the score for a film starring Sivakarthikeyan after Manam Kothi Paravai and Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam Sivakarthikeyan had sung a song in this film. The audio to be released on 7 June 2015.

Release

The satellite rights of the film were sold to Zee Thamizh.[13] The shooting of Rajini Murugan to wrap on March and plans for summer 2015. So Thiruppathi Brothers, The Film makers of Rajini Murugan announced that the movie to be released on July 17, 2015. [14]
