Rajat Dholakia is an Indian music composer.[1] known for his work on Firaaq (2008), Mirch Masala (1987) and Holi (1985).
Early life
Rajat Dholakia is BSc (Chemistry –Physics) graduated student from Mithibai College of Arts and Science(Mumbai), in 1977-78. In childhood he learned the Basics of Music from his father, Shri Dilip Dholakia (noted Composer-Singer from Hindi and Gujarati Films, who mastered Classical music in Bhendibazaar gharana from his guru Ustad Amaanali Khaan Saaheb) Rajat's main Goal was Music and Film based Technical career, from 1973 he started learning Western music, Staff notation and arrangement of music from The great Western Classical Teacher Pandit Ramprasad Sharma...(Father of famous composer Pyarelal Sharma, of the legendary Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo). To know the further technicalities of Music, he started learning Classical Guitar From his French Friend Mark Salaun(classical and Flemingo guitar master). Then learned arranging film musical score for Songs and Background Music from the great film Arranger Shayamrao Kamble.
Career
From 1975 he Started giving music in Theatrical amateur and commercial plays of Hindi, Gujarati and English....... After meeting his theatre lover friends Paresh Mehta, Renu Saluja, Kundan Shah, Saeed Mirza, Niranjan Thade he was introduced to FTII by them(1979–80) .... And started giving experimental background music and sounds for the Diploma Films for FTII students ........ where he started doing workshop for Folly effects and ambient sounds for their films....... He started editing sound tracks for film documentaries while working with five time national award winner editor Renu Saluja and Sound engineer Padmanabhan (paddy)........ and that is how Rajat Dholakia’s technical career started as Sound Designer and started working as a music director, background score director and as a sound designer with very specialize film directors as below

After his career of participating mostly in art film in he again reintroduced by his Friend Kiran Devhans to the Advertising world and then Rajat Dholakia has contributed in the commercial media to provide music for more than 5000 adfilms and public services films for example the music for UIDAI ID project's official theme song, Yehi hai Meri Pehchaan.[5]
