Rainbow Party (novel)

Rainbow Party is a 2005 teen novel written by Paul Ruditis about the fantasy and planning of a rainbow party (or an oral sex party) by a couple of high school girls. The book was inspired by the urban legend of teens and pre-teens holding such parties as brought to light by Oprah Winfrey on her show in 2003 and by pediatrician Meg Meeker in her 2002 book Epidemic: How Teen Sex is Killing Our Kids.

Synopsis

The book follows two hours in the life of thirteen different students at Harding High School, from 1:00PM until a little after 3, when student Gin is to throw a rainbow party for her and eleven of the other twelve. (The other being the president of the Celibacy Club.) The book follows their activities throughout that time and whether any of them show up for this party and their reasons to go or not to go. The book also ends with an epilogue about a week later at a dance called the Spring Fling.
