In this Indian name, the name Ram is a patronymic, not a family name, and the person should be referred to by the given name, Rachita.

Bindhiya Ram, known by her screen name Rachita Ram, is an Indian actress who is primarily known for her work in Kannada cinema. Prior to entry in cinema, she appeared in the Kannada language soap opera Arasi.

Following a successful television career, Rachita made her acting debut in the 2013 Kannada language film Bulbul as the female lead paired opposite Darshan, which went commercially successful. She consequently appeared in Dil Rangeela (2014) and Ambareesha (2014).

Early life

Rachita, who has her roots in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, was born in Karnataka.[1] She is a trained classical Bharata Natyam dancer who has given more than 50 performances. Her father Ram, also a Bharata Natyam dancer who has given nearly 500 public performances.[2] She has a sister, Nithya Ram, who also appeared in soap operas before entering cinema with the Kannada film Muddu Manase.[3]

Career

Rachita Ram auditioned for the female lead role in Bulbul with 200 other girls before was finalised on, in July 2012.[4] She was paired opposite Darshan in the film that went to become a success commercially.[5] On her performance, G. S. Kumar of The Times of India wrote, "A new star is born in Sandalwood. Rachita Ram has presented an excellent performance in her first movie" and added, "Rachita Ram is amazing with her dialogue delivery, body language and excellent expressions."[6] Her first release of 2014 was Dil Rangeela, in which was paired opposite Ganesh, a performance that won her acclaim from critics. B. S. Srivani of Deccan Herald felt that she "delivers a seasoned performance" in the film.[7] Her second release of the year saw her paired opposite Darshan again in Ambareesha. The film and her performance earned negative reviews from critics.[8][9]

As of March 2014, Rachita has Nanda Kishore's Ranna, a remake of the 2013 Telugu film Attarintiki Daredi up for release. She is currently filming with Chandrashekar Bandiyappa's Rathaavara, which has her paired opposite Srimurali.[10]
