Rachel Wallace (born 1971 in Hoxton, Shoreditch, England) is a Rave/House vocalist and songwriter.
Background
Wallace is best known for 1992 Breakbeat hardcore/Techno song "Tell Me Why," which was co-produced and co-written by Wallace with Mark Williams and Matt Clayden (aka M&M). Although she had other follow-up releases, "Why" remains her signature song. After her brief success as a solo artist, Wallace took some time out to return to school, gaining a university diploma in marketing and management and worked until May 1993 in the British Ministry Of Agriculture.[1] During that time, Wallace was briefly dating Dan Donnelly, the founder of Suburban Base Records, the label that Wallace recorded for. Wallace then relocated to Munich, Germany, where she opened a clothing shop until 1995, when she returned to the music scene as a lead vocalist for the German group Garfield, only to once again take a break after the project to relocate to Miami, Florida before resuming her musical career again after her return to England. Since then, Wallace continued to work with other dance and electronica artists, mostly doing lead vocals on their recordings. In 2009 she teamed up with Spanish DJs Cuto and Melo to record "Do I Really Want You Back" and "Que Pasa," and with UK Drum 'n Bass artist MC Skibadee for "All of My Junglists." She also tours with Stereo MCs as their background vocalist, and is married to lead singer Rob Birch.[2]
