Rachel Renee Russell (born March 13, 1959) is an American author of the #1 New York Times Best Selling humorous children’s book series, Dork Diaries There are nine books in the series of Dork Diaries
Work
Dork Diaries chronicles the daily life of the main character, Nikki Maxwell, as she struggles to fit in and survive middle school. The book series is written in a diary format and includes doodles, drawings and comic strips.
According to the author's website, the Dork Diaries books are based on the middle school experiences of her two daughters, Erin and Nikki. Her older daughter, Erin, helps with writing and her younger daughter, Nikki, helps with illustrations. The main character, Nikki Maxwell, is named after her daughter.

- Dork Diaries: Tales From a Not-So-Fabulous Life (Book 1) was released on June 2, 2009. It has spent 42 weeks on the New York Times Bestsellers list.[1] and 7 weeks on the USA Today Best Sellers list.[2]
- The book was also awarded the 2010 Children’s Choice Book of the Year Award for the 5th/6th grade division.[3]
- On February 10, 2011, it was nominated as Book of the Year by the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards.[4]
- Dork Diaries: Tales From a Not-So-Popular Party Girl (Book 2) was released on June 8, 2010. It has spent 42 weeks on the New York Times Bestsellers list.[5] and 12 weeks on the USA Today Best Sellers list.[6]
- Dork Diaries: Tales From a Not-So-Talented Pop Star (Book 3) was released on June 7, 2011 and landed on the New York Times Bestsellers list for Children's Series.[7] and 13 weeks on the USA Today Best Sellers list.[8]
- Dork Diaries: How To Dork Your Diary was released in October 2011 and landed on the New York Times Best Sellers list for Children's Series
- Dork Diaires: Tales From a Not-So-Graceful Ice Princess (Book 4) was released in June 2012.[9] It was also awarded the 2013 Children’s Choice Book of the Year Award for the 5th/6th grade division and landed on the New York Times Best Sellers list for Children's Series

- Dork Diaries film rights have been optioned by Lionsgate Summit studios with a tentative release date for the movie in 2016
