Rachana Parulkar is a trained Bharatanatyam Dancer, Ganda bhandhan shagird of Uma Dogra and scholarship student of Terence Lewis (choreographer). Parulkar is also Indian Television model and Indian Television actress.

Personal life

Parulkar was born on 10 October 1990 in Mumbai to Sushilkumar N Parulkar and Lata Parulkar. She has two siblings namely Sandesh Parulkar and Sanket Parulkar. Rachana was brought up in Mumbai,Maharashtra.

Academics

Parulkar has completed her schooling from Gyan Kendra School.She Completed her graduation from Mithibai College in Mumbai. She holds Masters degree in English Literature from SNDT University.She is a graduate in Bharatanatyam from Nalanda Bharatnatyam Nritya Niketan. She is also trained as a classical Kathak Dancer at Uma Dogra School of Kathak [1]

Acting career

Parulkar started her acting career at the age of eighteen as character Sawri [2] in well known Zee TV show Saat Phere - Saloni Ka Safar. After generation leap she played main female lead on the show Saat Phere - Saloni Ka Safar as saloni's daughter saawri. She was further seen as Akruti[3] in Star Plus show Sapnon Se Bhare Naina. Parulkar also did a cameo in show Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil and made episodic appearance in TV Show Gumraah.[4]

Parulkar gained popularity with her lead role as Kalpana Jadav(Kalpi)/Kalpana Raghav Singhania in Ek Mutthi Aasmaan (TV series) on Zee TV. She was well noticed for her portrayal of a lower middle class educated girl trying to make space in corporate world.Her dusky looks and expressive eyes added to her girl next door looks and instantly connected with the audience.[5] Her romantic on screen chemistry with her co actor[6] won her the place among romantic actresses on Indian television.She was nominated for Zee Gold Awards for her role as Kalpi.

Rachana Parulkar is currently seen as Ajabde in Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap. .[7]
