Querencia

Querencia is an 900-acre (3.6 km2) private golf community that sits at the tip of the Baja in the Los Cabos Corridor, Mexico, which is rapidly becoming one of North America's most popular spots for multi-million-dollar vacation homes. The property features restaurants, a spa, custom estate homes and villas, and a Tom Fazio-designed golf course.

In 2006, the resort broke a lush new advertising campaign.[1]

In 2007, Querencia purchased an additional 900 acres (3.6 km2), most of which are being set aside for a second golf course.[2]

The name refers to a metaphysical concept. In Spanish, querencia describes a place where one feels safe, a place from which one's strength of character is drawn, a place where one feels at home. John Jeremiah Sullivan defines querencia as "an untranslatable Spanish word that means something like 'the place where you are your most authentic self.'"[3] It comes from the verb querer, which means to desire, to want. In bullfighting, when the bullfighter prepares for the kill that will end it, a bull may stake out turf—querencia—a place in the ring where he feels strong and safe.
